The 2017 MACE Annual Congress is hosted by the MACE Board of Directors with the kind support of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). The Congress takes place at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Governance, 2 St David’s Place, Parktown, Johannesburg.

The Wits School of Governance (WSG) is a place where they focus on building capacity for governance and seek ways of getting to grips with the wicked problems that beset governance in South Africa, whether at local, provincial, national, or continental levels. The WSG is the leading regional institution in the arena of governance, policy, and development management for the public sector. The Wits School of Governance offers over 90 short courses in the fields of policy; governance and leadership; monitoring and evaluation; project management and economic development and finance.

A few fun facts about our host city, Johannesburg – it is the second largest city in Africa; the Johannesburg Zoo, located in Parktown, and is over 100 years old and houses the only two polar bears in Africa; Jozi as it is affectionately known, is the home of Kwaito music and is known as the City of Gold.
