Nomonde Mbadi is a dynamic professional with over 15 years of leadership experience in higher education and business consultancy sectors. With expertise in Marketing, Public Relations, and Communications, she has spearheaded numerous successful campaigns, including the rebranding of the Durban Institute of Technology to the Durban University of Technology and driving the process of developing the creative “Inspiring Greatness” tagline for the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
At UFS, Nomonde played a pivotal role in introducing the ChatBot, a crucial move that ensured prospective students maintained communication during the challenges posed by COVID-19. Several enhancements are being developed for the ChatBot, aiming to further boost interaction with prospective and existing students. These include predictive communication, advanced advising, and more. The overarching goal is to elevate student engagement, enrich their experience, and deepen their affective commitment. In communications, stakeholder relations, marketing, and media relations, Nomonde’s career highlights include central roles at the UFS, UKZN and DUT. At the heart of Nomonde’s work lies a passion for changing the lives of the young adults she interacts with and positively impacting them to be excellent citizens.
Nomonde has a B.Com, a B.Com (Hons), and an MBA and is currently a PhD candidate at UFS.
