Phuti Mothapo is the President of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) and a registered Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (CPRP). She served as Chief Judge for three categories in the 2022 Prism Awards. She previously held various positions with the Limpopo Region between 2015 and 2021. She served the region for two consecutive terms as Chairperson between 2017-2021.
In July 2023, she graduated as a top student with a certificate in Municipal Finance Programme (MFP) from Wits University School of Governance. She holds an MBA from Turfloop Graduate School of Leadership (TGSL- University of Limpopo) and a Senior Management Programme Certificate from the same school. She is a proud BA Hon. Media Studies graduate from the University of Limpopo. She holds Public Relations Management Certificate and other related Continuous Professional Development programs from PRISA.
She is currently heading the Marketing and Communications at Capricorn District Municipality (CDM). She has more than 15 years of experience in Communications within the local government sector having worked as Communications Officer and Communications Manager at Polokwane and Blouberg Local Municipalities respectively. She also worked at Morokoro Communications, a private company specializing in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, and Research in the initial stages of her career.
In 2022, she received a recognition award from the South African Local Government Association (SALGA Limpopo) for Outstanding Service to Local Government in the Marketing and Communications environment. At Capricorn District Municipality, she serves as Chairperson of Employees Wellness Physical Programmes and Secretary for the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU). She is also the Deputy Secretary of Great North TV.
