The MACE Board recently held its Operational Planning meeting for 2017 at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

At the meeting, several strategic priorities for 2017 were highlighted. Due to unrest in the sector, there were few regional interventions last year. One of the goals for 2017 is to revive regional events, especially in the regions not hosting the national workshop, directors’ symposium, or congress. Regions were requested to arrange a minimum of one event, which is to be completed before September 2017. During the meeting, the Board bid farewell to MACE stalwart Beverley Erickson, whose term as Secretary and Treasurer came to an end. Candes Keating from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology will take up the portfolio.
